Surfboard Bag or Surfboard Sock

Decisions, decisions!  There's so many decision in life and now we have to work out if we need a surf board bag or a surfboard sock.  But seriously, if budget is tight and you can only choose one, what is right for you?

A day bag offers protection while being light weight and easy to carry around.  Usually the padding in a day bag is around 5mm, just enough to protect it from everyday dents and scratches.  Make sure you buy one with a non corrosive zip.

Socks are great to pack into your travel bags when travelling to protect the board from each other in a double board bag or a coffin. The typical travel bag will have 10mm of foam which is considered heavy duty as they offer more protection from potentially careless baggage handlers.

When you are travelling get out the bathroom scales and weigh your bags before you go, being just half a kilogram over your airlines baggage guidelines could put a serious dent in your holiday spending money.

If you think you don't need a cover or a sock....think again? The tiniest bump or scratch can damage the integrity of a board so do yourself a favour and spend the extra few dollars to keep your asset safe.  There's nothing worse then finding out some swell is coming and pulling out your board only to discover that a little nick to the edge has turned into a big problem and now your board is unridable (not sure if that's a word haha).

In addition, if you don't use a cover the wax will melt into your roof racks.  Using a bag keeps the leg rope 'constrained' and safe, one too many people have learned that coiling it around the end of your board will eventually give you a curly leg rope.

Finally if you are still confused and not sure what surfboard cover is right for you.  Send us an email boardcovers@gmail.com  Some people even find it useful to snap a pic of their board and send it to us just to make sure they get the right board for them.  We are always happy to help!
